Haidong Gumdo Association

Membership Levels

The Texas State Haidong Gumdo Association has three different levels of membership

1. Master Instructor Membership

As a Master Instructor, you are certified through the Texas State Haidong Gumdo Assocation, US HAidong Gumdo Association, and World Haidong Gumdo Federation to operate a Haidong Gumdo school. The rights under this charter include:

  • To operate a Haidong Gumdo School.
  • To teach the authorized curriculum from the World Haidong Gumdo Federation.
  • To conduct belt promotion tests up to 3rd Dan level.
  • To use the certified logos for the World Haidong Gumdo Federation, US Haidong Gumdo Federation, and Texas Haidong Gumdo federation.
  • To use a logo with your school name on it that uses the standard Texas Association Haidong Gumdo design.
  • To recieve Master level training from Master Kim, the Chief of Education from the World Haidong Gumdo federation in Korea conducted in seminars in Texas or other states in the US.
  • To recieve Master level training in Texas from Master Vasquez Sr, Chief Instructor for the Texas region.
  • To have Master Vasquez and his instructors participate in selected belt promotion tests, demonstration, seminars and grand openings at your school.
  • To purchase certified equipment, and uniforms from the World Haidong Gumdo federation.
  • To have access to video material on the official Haidong Gumdo curriculum through our Texas e-learning portal.
  • To have your web site rebuilt, and hosted through our common hosting facility.

II. Instructor Membership

Instructors who teach in schools sanctioned by the Texas State Haidong Gumdo Association can also apply for Instructor membership in the state association. An Instructor is defined a non-master level Haidong Gumdo practitioner who leads classes at a certified Haidong Gumdo academy, and is authorized by the 'Master  Instructor to be an instructor.

Although not mandatory, membership in the Texas State Haidong Gumdo Association as an instructor has many benefits including:

  • Ability to train in all of the Haidong Gumdo Master workshops in Texas led by Master Vasquez.
  • Ability to attend classes at the SW Regional Training Headquarters in McKinney, TX at no additional cost.
  • Ability to attend belt promotion tests in our SW Regional Training Headquarters in McKinney, TX.
  • Ability to have a user ID on our Texas Masters e-learning portal, and to access the videos of the Haidong Gumdo curriculum, as well as communicate with instructors from other schools.
  • Able to wear the certified Instructor's unform (top of uniform is standard for belt level, bottom are the checkered instructor pants).
  • Able to wear an instructors patch with the Texas State Haidong Gumdo Association label.

An instructor level membership in our Texas Association costs $468 per year.

III. e-Learning Portal Membership

A student in a certified Haidong Gumdo school may apply for membership in the Texas State Haidong Gumdo Association. A student must first receive approval from their Master Instructor prior to applying. Although not mandatory, membership as a student has many benefits:

  • Granted access to the Texas State Haidong Gumdo Association's e-learning portal to view videos and step by step instruction on all the curriculum up to your current belt level
  • Ability to use our Texas State Haidong Gumdo Association social network to contact students at other schools, post messages, view pictures, and videos.
  • Get email updates directly from the association. 

A student membership in the association costs $39 per year.
